Pulsing for psychotherapists, counsellors and healers

What are you holding that doesn’t belong to you?

A man with a beard holds the feet of a woman lying on a massage couch.

What is Pulsing?

What is Pulsing not?

I’m not a psychotherapist so I won’t hold your process. Each Pulsing session will be a new experience and open up new ways of being in your body. My goal is to create a safe container in which you are supported to explore at your own pace and towards your own goals, so that you can bring a more embodied version of yourself into the therapy room, and beyond.

What to expect from a Pulsing session

Then there’ll be up to 60 minutes of hands-on bodywork, leaving plenty of time at the end of the session for integration.

The bodywork is delivered with you lying on a regular massage table, fully clothed, and consists of continuous rocking accompanied by specific stretches and movements which are designed to guide and direct your awareness to different parts of your body.

During this time you may enter something like an altered state where deep emotion more easily rises into conscious awareness. I will help you feel, express and process that emotion by holding space for it and by prompting you to involve more of your body, breath and voice.

After a session it is common for people to feel deeply relaxed or even sleepy, but equally commonly people become energised, and feel more awake and aware.

You should leave yourself plenty of time after a Pulsing session to process what’s happened before engaging in any demanding physical, mental or social activities.

I need to be able to pick up your limbs and move them around, so loose comfortable clothing that doesn’t restrict your movement is best. Lycra can be a bit too slippery, so think tracky bottoms and a t-shirt. No jeans – the buttons and waistband makes bodywork difficult.

Sessions happen in warm, comfortable, confidential treatment rooms at Space To Be You in Hackney, which is located just off Mare Street between Cambridge Heath and London Fields overground stations.

A 90-minute session includes 60-minutes of hands-on bodywork and costs £110.

The recommended frequency is once every two weeks.

This gives your bodymind enough time to process what’s happened at the previous session but isn’t long enough for your old conditioning to take hold again.

Pulsing is not so good for people with hypermobility, advanced osteoporosis, herniated disks or other severe spinal injuries, any risk of thrombosis, epilepsy, or in the first trimester or last few weeks of pregnancy.

You should let me know before the session about any current injuries, illnesses or other serious health conditions.

Because Pulsing is a regressive therapy, it’s also not for children or anyone who has required serious mental health interventions in the past.
