Pulsing for Psychotherapy Clients
Bodywork for clients stuck in talk therapy
Neo-Reichian bodywork for trauma and somatic holding patterns
Many therapy clients reach a point where insight alone isn’t enough. They understand their patterns cognitively but can’t shift them behaviourally. The issue often lies in somatic holding patterns – what Wilhelm Reich called “character armour.”
I work with clients referred by therapists when:
- Insight isn’t translating into behavioural change
- Affect is difficult to access or remains intellectualized
- Chronic anxiety/tension persists despite therapeutic progress
- Trauma is held somatically and talk therapy has plateaued

What is Pulsing?
Pulsing is a neo-Reichian bodywork modality that addresses somatic holding patterns through gentle rocking, breathwork and passive movement. Sessions support clients to:
- Increase somatic awareness and body-based emotional processing
- Release chronic muscular tension patterns
- Integrate therapeutic insights at a bodily level
- Develop greater affect tolerance and emotional range
How I work with referring therapists:
- Initial consultation to understand the client’s therapeutic goals and concerns
- Regular brief check-ins (if appropriate) about the client’s progress
- Clear boundaries: I don’t provide psychotherapy or compete with your therapeutic relationship
- Sessions complement ongoing therapy rather than replace it

My name is Jamie Griffiths and I’m on a mission to help people dissolve their conditioning so they can reconnect with the natural individual that lies beneath.
My approach is grounded in years of personal transformation, psychotherapy and professional training in neo-Reichian bodywork. I am an Advanced Pulsing Practitioner, having trained with Richard Lawton in London. I am a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists and carry full insurance.
Sessions are held in a warm, comfortable, private room at Space To Be You in Hackney. Here, your clients will find the safety and support they need to explore the wisdom of their body at a pace that suits them.
Fees: £120 per 90-minute session.

What to expect from a Pulsing session
A typical Pulsing session includes:
- A detailed consultation to discuss the client’s goals and ensure Pulsing is right for them.
- 60 minutes of hands-on rhythmic bodywork, delivered while the client lies fully clothed on a massage table.
- The client is encouraged through continuous rocking and passive movements to release excess tension and become more aware of bodily sensations (and therefore emotions).
- Space is created for emotional release, integration, and reflection.
After a session, many clients describe feeling profoundly relaxed yet energized, lighter, and more connected to themselves.
